Foods I Want To Try And Cook 19/31

I love food, and I can’t help but snack far more than I should. As I’m writing this, I’m snacking. I can’t help myself!

As I’ve approached and hit my twenties, I’ve wanted to try more foods that interest me and learn to cook more things.
I’m fortunate enough to be with someone who also likes to cook, meaning we can have some fun in the kitchen trying dishes we both like the look of.

So let’s get into some dishes I still haven’t gotten round to trying to make – but will do, someday.

Whether it be California rolls or sweet potato sushi, I want to try cooking and consuming it myself.

Sweet Chili Sauce
Thanks to Pinterest, I’ve found a sweet chilli sauce recipe that I’m dying to try. I like sweet chilli sauce from time to time so a good recipe on hand would be fantastic.

Coffee Cake
This year I found a love for coffee cake. Whether it’s just coffee cake, or coffee and walnut. I really need to try making it.

Chia Pudding
I have chia seeds, and I’ve come to like having them in or on smoothies. But what I’ve yet to try is chia seed pudding. I attempted making it once, got the proportions wrong and I wasn’t going to attempt eating it. I just haven’t gotten round to trying it again!

Tofu Dishes
I’ve never tried tofu, but given the different variations of it you can get, there’s got to be at least one version of it I enjoy having in a dish.
Pinterest (again) has given me some recipe ideas that I need to at least try when it comes to tofu.

Chicken Fried Rice
I love this dish. It’s one I order from the Chinese when I fancy a change from my go-to chicken dish. I would probably make it a regular dish if I learned how to make it for myself at home!

Mashed Potato Cakes
You get to use up your leftover mashed potato, and
get to make a delicious looking dish? Yes, please.

Cooking to me is something you can get creative with. Have fun doing and enjoy the results.

Do you enjoy cooking? What’s a favourite dish of yours to make?

Until next time,
Surviving Millennial.

  1. Although I’m more a baking-lover than actual cooking, my boyfriend is absolutely addicted to trying out different cuisines and it shows in our meals, haha. The regular Belgian “potatoes, veggies and meat” isn’t something we do all that often. We’re huge fans of pasta and Indian food, so that’s where our focus is on most of the time. [I’m actually planning on giving my other half a cookbook with a whole lot of different taco recipes for Christmas, hah!]
One of the things on our “to make” list is Butter Chicken Curry. I had it in Scotland half a year ago and absolutely loved it. Haven’t found a restaurant that makes it as great, so we just have to figure out our own recipe, no?
When it comes to baking, I really want to make something pumpkin-related. I’ve never had anything with pumpkin so far and I have this need to change that this Fall. 🙂

Hope you get to make all the dishes you want to! 😀

    1. That sounds fantastic! I’ve made a pumpkin pie before, it was years ago so I can’t fully remember how it was.
The taco recipe book sounds amazing! We’ve tried the taco kits you can get, but never made our own before!
I hope you get to go pumkpin-crazy and enjoy all the recipes you try!!

      1. Sounds like you need a pumpkin pie do-over, haha!
I’ve heard good things about the book. I think it’s called The Taco Tuesday Cookbook or something. We’ve also tried those kits, but it simply isn’t the same as creating them entirely from scratch in different ways.
        Thank you!
