First Time Butlins Advice

Hello everyone!
Today, I’m here to talk a bit about my recent trip away!

Last week I spent some time at a Butlins resort. The people I went with make it a yearly trip – almost like a mini-tradition, but for me, it was my first time at any Butlins, ever.

While I feel like I got a rough idea before going, I definitely learned a few things to bear in mind for future visits.

The Walking

Yeah, yeah, of course, you’re going to have to walk to and from your rooms to the different areas you want to go to. But until you start doing it, you realise just how much more walking you do. You can walk farther or shorter distances depending on how far away your room is, but you still have to make your way round to each area and get there.

By the second morning, the back of my lower legs were already aching.

If you don’t do as much walking, it may be a shock to your system. But if you’re used to walking frequently, you’ll be fine.

Noise

Butlins has a lot of kid shows, events, and such on. But one thing that really took me by surprise was just how loud the skyline was.

They have live kid shows, which require the microphones being loud (of course, so the audience can hear them well) but you also have kids and their families, the arcade right next to you, people talking between them – and somewhat louder given the noise levels beforehand – and also cafes and other food stops.

The first day it was a lot for me to take in, I didn’t think I was going to cope with all the noise. So if you’re someone who’s rather sensitive to noise, or just struggle with things being louder overall, I’d advise caution.

Price

Now, despite paying all the money to stay at a Butlins, unfortunately, some things they have can be more costly than elsewhere.
It’s a business thing, a way to keep earning more money. It’s understandable, but it’s better to make sure you’re aware of it compared to getting there and seeing things costing a bit more than you thought.

It’s nothing ridiculous, but if you’re wanting to watch how much you spend, or only have a set amount of spending money, then it’s best to know in advance.
(although, saying that, their prices for fresh hot donuts are great! And the donuts… divine!)

I hope this gives you some insight before your first trip. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and made some fun memories to look back on.

What’s your go-to holiday place? Or even more, where’s your dream location to vacation at?

Until next time,
