So today I’ll be reviewing the latest Benefit mascara, the bad gal bang!
I’ve heard some people rave about this (Nikkitutorials claims this is amazing as a bottom lash mascara!) but I’ve also heard some rather poor reviews, so why not add to the pile of views?
I received this mini mascara within birchbox’s March box, (if you want to hear my thoughts on birchbox, let me know in the comments!) While I was presuming I’d receive the full sized version, I figured I could easily test the miniature version anyway!
Let’s start off with something I love about the product, the wand.
This wand is really flexible, but still gives me that control to get all of my lashes. The wand glided across them nicely and I never felt like I was risking poking my eye out when trying to get a stubborn lash on my inner corner.
The formula itself, I have mixed opinions on. The first time I applied it, it felt slightly heavy and I was also able to feel it once it dried. It wasn’t uncomfortable or anything, just bloody annoying that I could feel it. Yet saying that, the second time I couldn’t feel it at all.
One thing you have to be really careful about with this mascara is you can very easily get spider lashes, and personally, I’m someone who hates that look. It isn’t flattering on anybodies eyes and should just be avoided. You want dramatic lashes? Falsies.
Although you do have to be careful, for me, the mascara risked clumping at the ends on my top lashes, while barely doing so on my bottom lashes.
I wore this mascara when going out for a meal and some drinks the other evening. Being out for a few hours with friends and family seemed a perfect way to test it. Unfortunately, the mascara on my lower lashes had smudged onto my skin giving me some good ol’ panda eyes. I spent the night trying my best to not rub my eyes, and if I were to do so, I’d do it very gently. Every time I did, I instantly checked my fingers to see no transfer, so I don’t know what to believe, was it the product, or myself and the product combined? Either way, I’m glad I was a dimmed room because it did not look pretty by the end of the night.
Another downside: this mascara was a pain to fully remove.
Just when you think you have it all off, you see nothing on your makeup remover pad, you go to sleep and wake up – to more panda eyes. I was annoyed, for sure. I am someone who will not sleep in makeup, I am doing what I can to get good skin and morning mascara smudges are not included in this.
So my overall view?
It’s a nice mascara, but the formula needs some fixing. Prevent the clumps and make it far less prone to smudging and I definitely think I’d be into this.
Have you tried this mascara? Tell me your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to give them a read and chat!
Until next time!
